Laverne C. Stremmel

Laverne C. Stremmel, 93, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine (Godfrey) Stremmel and the late Arlene (Chronister) Stremmel. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at New Fairview Church of the Brethren, 1873 New Fairview Church Road, York with Rev. Roger H. Mentzer of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Dallastown and Rev. Paul Bentzel of New Fairview officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-11:00 AM Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in New Fairview Church Cemetery. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Stremmel was born February 22, 1925 in York County, a son of the late Curvin and Nora (Keeney) Stremmel. He was a plasterer for 16 years and an accountant/bookkeeper with the R.S. Noonan Constructions Co. for 22 years, partially retiring in 1986. Laverne then was a part time bookkeeper for St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for 20 years until full retirement. Mr. Stremmel was a member of Bethlehem U.M. Church, Dallastown. He was involved in family life, photography and volunteering with different groups. He and Geraldine did some traveling and spent the later years in Florida during the winter months. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stremmel is survived by a daughter, Linda and husband Raymond Harbold of Jacobus; two sons, Donald and wife Linda Stremmel of Shrewsbury and Eugene and wife Jeanne Stremmel of York; seven grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; and a sister, Delores Godfrey of York. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Preston and Marvin Stremmel; and a sister, Beatrice Bull. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem U.M. Church, 109 E.
