Laverna (Baker) Brewer

TROY- LaVerna (Baker) Brewer, 91, of Troy, PA passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Bradford County Manor in West Burlington, PA. She was the loving wife of the late Richard G. “Dick” Brewer who passed away on April 8, 1997. The couple married on August 2, 1941 and had 56 happy years together. LaVerna was born on May 28, 1920 in Snedekerville, PA daughter of the late George and Mertie (Cook) Baker. She was a Troy High School graduate, Class of 1938. In her younger years LaVerna was a beautician, worked for the family business, Baker’s Motel in Sylvania, PA, and also worked for Eureka, American Silk and the Brewers Men’s and Boy’s Shop, all in Troy, PA. LaVerna was Christian by faith, belonged to the Sylvania Presbyterian Church’s Ladies Aid, and enjoyed playing cards with her friends at Hillcrest. Her family was most important to LaVerna. Her family includes her sons: Larry (JoAnn) Brewer of Bristol, VT, Roger (Carol) Brewer of Bentonville, AR, Jeff (Brenda) Brewer of Troy, PA, Barry (Nancy) Brewer of Troy, PA, and Steve (Cindy) Brewer of Wareham, MA, eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and her brother-in-law Harland Brewer of Troy, PA. Her parents and her husband Dick preceded her in death. Funeral services for LaVerna will be private at the convenience of her family. The Gerald W.
