Laura J. (Hoover) Edgar

Laura J. (Hoover) Edgar, 82, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Mt. Hope Nazarene Retirement Community in Manheim. She was the wife of the late Ross M. Edgar. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1:15 PM Monday, February 15, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, in York with Certified Celebrant Kasie J. Watkins officiating. A visitation will be held from 12:30-1:15 PM Monday at the Funeral Chapel. Born August 2, 1933 in Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Daniel D. and Olive (Drake) Hoover Hunsicker, she graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1950 and Thompson College in 1951. She was a legal secretary for the Markowitz, Kagen, & Griffith Law Firm and the Liverant, Senft, and Cohen Law Firm. Laura had also worked for McCrory’s Corp. and Kitchens of Sara Lee. Mrs. Edgar is survived by a son, Ross L. and wife Norene Edgar of York; a daughter, Jane F. and husband Richard Nocera of Newburyport, Mass.; two grandchildren, Allison and Rachel Edgar; and one sister, Evelyn Shearer of East Canton, OH. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ines Mentzer; and three brothers, Harry, Irvin, and Alan Hoover.
