Laura B. Tassone

Laura B. Tassone (better known as Mom), 64, of York passed away on December 17, 2020 at home, knowing she was deeply loved by her large circle of family and friends. She was born September 21, 1956 in Woodbury, New Jersey. She was a devoted wife to her husband of 43 years, Anthony, and the best mother to her 4 children, Becky, John, Mandy, and Zac. Laura grew up in south central New Jersey and had many fond childhood memories of her times in Wenonah. She often recalled Fourth of July parades, trick or treating with her brother on Halloween, and sledding or hanging out with local friends with great fondness. As a teenager she especially enjoyed time spent at the Jersey shore and seeing many top musical acts at the start of their careers at the Spectrum in Philly and other venues. She kept many of her ticket stubs. As an adult, she spent many happy years leading a full and busy life raising her children, creating and maintaining a wonderful home, helping out in the community and enjoying some of her personal interests and passions. She really believed in giving back to her community and it showed. Laura was a Gold Star Girl Scout and a Girl Scout leader for many years in the Red Lion area. She was Locust Grove Elementary PTO president, and served in other officer and leadership roles as well as various committees for a number of years. Laura was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a longtime member of Welcome Wagon, and a hostess for Meals on Wheels as well. Year after year, Laura hand sewed hundreds of stockings for the Salvation Army to give to local youth for the holidays and always found time to help a local family in need at Christmas time by acting as a secret angel and granting their Christmas wishes. In addition, she served as a mentor and parental figure for her children’s friends, welcoming them as extensions of her own family. It was not uncommon for our friends as teenagers to stop by and have a meaningful conversation about life while enjoying some quality junk food with Laura Tassone in her home! Laura had many passions which included her stained-glass business in Sugarloaf, collecting McDonald’s Happy Meals toys and accessories, as well as Longaberger baskets and paperweights. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, burning Yankee candles, and decorating for the holidays. Her Christmas lights were quite something to see each year! Laura was also a do it yourselfer and loved nature. She enjoyed many happy years in her former home on Freysville Road creating a koi pond, creating and tending gardens, upcycling furniture, and upgrading and maintaining her 200-year-old home. She could often be found outside in the yard enjoying butterflies, frogs, owls, and other wildlife. She really loved her magnolia tree as well as looking for rainbows in the backyard after a storm. Laura was preceded in death by her parents Franklin P. Godshall and Clarice K. Frantum. She is survived by her husband Anthony D. Tassone and her 4 children: Rebecca Tassone (Steven Harvey), Johnathan Tassone, Amanda Bucalo (Jeremy Bucalo). Zachary Tassone (Leah Tassone). She was adored by her four grandchildren: Ian, Bryson, Alex, and Via. Laura is also survived by her brother David F. Godshall as well as several nieces and nephews. She also is survived by many close friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020 at St John’s United Church of Christ in Red Lion.
