Larry Green

DOVER- Larry Green, of Sayre, PA., died Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the home of his son Marty, of Dover, PA, after a long battle with kidney disease. He was 87 years old. Born April 18, 1930, in Sayre, PA, he was the 6th child of 9 to Morgan and Frances (Greer) Green. He and his wife Doris (Case), who died in 1992, were married on October 14, 1950. They raised five children together: Rebecca Napierski of Pittsburgh, Janice (Tony) Larty, Martin (Melanie Brooks) Green, all of Dover, PA, Alan (Maria del Carmen Mercado Santos) Green of Riverview, FL, and Philip Green of Hummelstown, PA. He worked hard, often two jobs at a time, from farming in Big Pond, PA, to being a foreman at the Ingersoll-Rand in Athens, PA. He retired from the IR in 1991. Many may remember him from the years he was a store manager at the old P&C Store in the 60’s and 70’s. He was active in the Sayre Fire Engine Co. #1 Fire Company, where he was President for over 7 years. He loved football and golf and watched many football games his sons played in or coached. While his sons were in Sayre High School he was a statistician for the football games. A card player and golfer, he also loved camping and campfires. Along with his children, Larry is survived by a brother, Burt (Joan) Green of FL; a sister, Norma (Tom) Lynch of Sayre; good friends, John and Gladys Knowles of Sayre, and 12 grandchildren: Brian Napierski, Pam Tripathy, Greg Napierski, Jason Green, Sam Larty, Andrew Green, Stefanie Jimenez, Jacob Green, Veronica Martines, Amber Green, Molly Yeager, and Rachel Green.
