Larry F. Canterbury, 73, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Cathy L. (Baker) Canterbury to whom he was married for 34 years in June. Born February 12, 1945 in Charleston, WV a son of the late Fuller B. and Mary (Wells) Canterbury, he had been a truck driver at P.A.& S. Small Co. and later retired from Pennex Aluminum. Mr. Canterbury was a member of Shiloh American Legion, Ducks Unlimited and Northern York Co. Game and Fish. He was also a former Boy Scouts of America Scout Leader. Mr. Canterbury was a US Air Force veteran of The Vietnam War and also retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the PA Air National Guard after 37 years of military service. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by four daughters, Allison Knull of Glen Rock, Tracie and husband John Guresh of Seven Valleys, Michelle and husband Todd Stoner of Spring Grove and Heather Smith of York; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren with another to be born soon; a brother, Dan Canterbury of Dover; a sister, Diane Wellman of Michigan; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bennett Canterbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Tribute services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
