Larry B. Starr

ELIMSPORT - Larry B. Starr, 82, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born in Elimsport on February 23, 1932 and was the son of the late Lewis A. and Elsie (Haag) Starr. Larry served his country in the United States Army from November 03, 1954 until he was honorably discharged on September 18, 1956. Larry married the former Ethel M. Shiffer, who survives, on June 29, 1958 and they would have celebrated 56 years of marriage together this year. He worked for Philco Ford for almost 30 years, PA State Road Crew, Danville Cabinet and then John’s Savoy. He was a member of the American Legion Post 182 of Lewisburg, the Eagles Club of Milton, a lifetime member of the Moose Club of Milton and the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department. Larry enjoyed gardening, taking walks, camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Ethel, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Frank J. and Ingrid Starr of Germany, two daughters; Cindy L. Beachel and her companion Ernest Day of New Columbia and Lori A. Spaid and her companion Carl Farley of Mifflinburg, eight grandchildren; Christopher Snyder, Larry Beachel, Justin Beachel, LeeAnn Snyder, Nathan Snyder, Frank Starr, Jr., Samantha Starr and Randy Starr, five great grandchildren; Summer, Larry, Blaze, Landon and Madison Beachel and one sister; Zora Unangst of Lewisburg. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by one son; Larry B. Starr, Jr., five brothers; Merle, Harold, Gerald ‘Jeff’, Donald and Amos Starr and two sisters; Mabel Shutt and Geneva Zinck. A public viewing will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton PA 17847. A graveside service with military honors will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 02, 2014 at Elimsport Cemetery with Pastor Michael Hill officiating.
