YORK- Larry A. Leber, 82, entered into rest on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at WellSpan York Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra J. “Sandy” (Shaffer) Leber to whom he was married 60 years.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Canadochly Evangelical & Reformed Church, 4845 East Prospect Rd., York, PA 17406 with his pastor, the Reverend William Baral officiating. A visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
Born on August 15, 1941 in Lower Windsor, he was a son of the late George and Bertha (Abel) Leber, Jr. He was a William Penn High School graduate, class of 1959. Larry worked in the sheet metal industry until retiring in 2005.
Larry was a member of Canadochly Evangelical & Reformed Church, NRA, Craley Fish & Game Association, Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club, Bear Hunting Camp, Steam-O-Rama and Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. He was involved with the Yorkana Fire Company for over 50 years, 3 of which he was chief. In his spare time, he loved hunting, his tractors and gardening.
Along with his wife, Sandy, Larry is survived by his son, Lonnie Leber and his wife, Tonya of Windsor; two daughters, Tracy Fleming and her husband, Michael of York and Lori Versace and her husband, Dominick of York; three grandchildren, Gabriella Versace, Alexandra Versace and Chase Leber; two step grandchildren, Summer Blankenship and her husband, Mark and Derek Barnhart; one great grandson, Mason Blankenship; and brother, George Leber, III and his wife, Nancy of Craley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Aveline Leber.
