NEW COLUMBIA - Laird F. Killian, 90, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at River Woods Nursing Home. He was born on October 13, 1924 in White Deer and was the son of the late William E. and Alda C. (Reish) Killian. Laird graduated in 1943 from Milton High School with honors and received woodworking awards. He was a Corporal with the US Army Air Corp and served during WWII. On October 13, 1951 he married the late Norma E. (Kreppeneck) who had died on February 5, 2009. They celebrated 57 years as husband and wife. Laird had worked at Shippers Car Line for 30 years and retired in 1984. He was a dedicated and active member of the United in Christ Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, a charter member of the Cove Road Hunting Club, established in 1947 and a member of the American Legion, Mifflinburg. He was a dedicated husband and family man. Whatever he was involved in, he did it with “passion”, including woodworking. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Jeffrey E. and Janice E. Killian of New Columbia, one daughter; June M. Page of Orangeville, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters; Grace Ahlberg, Marjorie Herald, Dorothy Criswell and Winifred Catherman Ranck. There will be a public viewing 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton. There will also be a viewing 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the United in Christ Lutheran Church, 1875 Churches Road, Lewisburg where the funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Dr. Leah D. Schade, PhD officiating. Burial will follow in Church Hill Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 57 North Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
