YORK - L. Lucille (Saylor) Brenneman Demyanovich, 94, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at York Hospital. She was preceded in death by husband’s John Demyanovich and Donald G. Brenneman.


Born December 29, 1927 in Chanceford Township, a daughter of the late Murray J. and Sara Jane (Curran) Saylor; she was a 1945 graduate of Red Lion High School and attended many leadership and business classes. Lucille was appointed tax collector of Windsor Township in 1966 and was the first woman elected York County Controller in 1974. She held various administrative positions with the Auditor General of PA before retiring as District Administrator of the York County office of the Department of Revenue. Lucille was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Volunteering was also a big part of her life, having volunteered at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Kelly Drive; and many other community organizations in the York area. In 2016, Lucille was honored by receiving the Four Chaplains Award for volunteering.


Mrs. Demyanovich is survived by her grandson, Eric Brenneman and wife Alicia of DE; three great-grandsons, Eric Jr., Joshua, and Zachary all of DE; her late husband John’s sons, John Demyanovich of TX and Mark Demyanovich and wife Karen of FL. She was “Grandma Ceal” to Michele Mahone and son Austin of FL, John Demyanovich and wife Haley of MD, Lisa Partington and husband Jason of FL, Mark Demyanovich, II and wife Christina of CA; and great grandchildren, Jackson, Hadley, and Jace Demyanovich. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her only son, Robin G. Brenneman; her sisters, Romaine Shelley Painter, Grayce Saylor Shelly; and her brother, Harold Saylor.


A private tribute service was held at Zion Lutheran Church in York. Burial was in St. Luke Lutheran Cemetery in Chanceford Twp., Felton. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York was in charge of arrangements.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robin G. Brenneman Endowment Fund of SpiriTrust Lutheran, 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., York, PA 17404.
