YORK – Kenneth W. Smith, 68, passed away Monday, July 1, 2024 at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was the husband of Lori A. (Vassallo) Smith with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage on May 14th.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 5, 2024 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.
Born October 26, 1955 in York, a son of the late Leroy W. and Ethel M. (Moyer) Smith, he was a 1973 graduate of Dover Area High School and earned an Assoc. Degree in Electronics at Tidewater Community College in Virginia Beach. Mr. Smith had worked a number of years at Sears where he met the love of his life and continued to spend the next 36 years together in sickness and health! He then retired from EPI Labelers in 2018. Kenneth loved being a motorhead, from listening to car podcasts and reading auto magazines to vintage vehicles and motorcycles. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, but more than anything was family oriented and loved being with his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, and in-laws.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Smith is survived by a son, Zachary J. Smith of Pittsburgh, PA; a daughter, Corinne N. and husband Ethan Nulton of Pittsburgh; two granddaughters, Riley and Addilyn Nulton; his best friend and brother, Bruce A. and wife Tracy Smith of Macungie, PA; a brother-in-law, Jayson and wife Helen Vassallo of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters-in-law, Karen and husband Burt Lease of Phoenix, AZ and Anne and husband Troy Showers of York; and seven nieces and nephews.
