Kenneth T. Schriner, Sr.

WELLSBURG- Kenneth T. Schriner, Sr., of Wellsburg, NY, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Jo L. (Harlan) Schriner. The couple married January 30, 1999 and had 11 happy years together. Ken was born on March 14, 1927 in Williamsport, PA son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Bartlett) Schriner. He was a World War II US Navy veteran, serving his country in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, Ken worked for General Motors in Rochester, NY, at the Rochester Products Plant, where he worked on the maintenance staff, and he retired in 1985. Ken and Jo attended Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church where he was head usher for eight years and was known as the “Candy Man” to all the children because he always had candy to give. He was a member of the Elmira VFW and the Wellsburg Fire Company. Ken enjoyed the outdoors and hunting, woodworking and tinkering around in his garage. Ken is survived by his wife Jo, his children: Kenneth T. (Bonnie) Schriner, Jr. of Williamsport, PA, Ronald E. (Jane) Long of Geneseo, NY, Jo Ellen (Joe) Wollner of Wisconsin, Jim (Sherrie) Newns of Erin, NY, Jina Winter of Wisconsin, Steven (Jessica) Nero of Maryland, and Frank (Amy) Nero of Gillett, PA, 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his sister Thelma (Max) Feeher of Florida, his brother Donald (Elsie) Schriner of Williamsport, PA, along with several nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Leona (Ross) Schriner, his daughters: Nancy Fischer, Nancy Sweeney, Barbara Bohrer, and his sister Mary. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church 13255 Berwick Turnpike Gillett, PA. The funeral service to honor Ken’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 15th at the church with his pastor, Rev. Robert Wuethrich, officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors given by the Chemung County Veterans Honor Guard. The Roberts Funeral Home, Inc. 279 Main Street Wellsburg, NY has been entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Ken’s memory to the Bentley Creek Wesleyan Church 13255 Berwick Turnpike Gillett, PA 16925 or to Guthrie Hospice 421 Tomahawk Rd Towanda, Pennsylvania 18848.
