DALLASTOWN- Kenneth R. Stoltzfus, Sr., of Dallastown, died May 17, 2018. He was the loving husband of Gladys “Peggy” (Gohn) Stoltzfus, to whom he was married 61 years. Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 West Broadway, Red Lion, with his Pastor, Reverend Ronald L. Doverspike officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements. Kenneth was born August 21, 1932 in Lancaster. He was a son to the late John K. and Mamie A. (Holtzapple) Stoltzfus. Kenneth was a self-employed builder and developer with many projects in the York County Area. He was a member of the Men’s Bible Class at Bethany UM Church. In his earlier years, he worked for Walter E. Henry, Sr., Bruce V. Smith, and Joseph Dellinger Excavating, in Dallastown. He went on to be self-employed building homes, parsonages, and motels. He continued working into his late 70’s. Kenneth was very active and a devoted husband, father and loving grandfather. He was past President of the York County Builders Association, the Red Lion Lions Club, and was given the Melvin Jones Award. Kenneth loved hunting, going to his mountain home in Bedford, and working outdoors. He was an avid reader of current events and history. He was an exceptional provider for his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Peggy, Kenneth is survived by his son, Kenneth R. Stoltzfus, Jr. and his wife, Dena of Bedford, PA; his daughters, Lena A. Vebares and her husband Teen of Red Lion, and Lesa E. Michel of Mt. Shasta, CA; his sisters, Shirley A. Inch and Nancy E. Keeny, both of York; his brother, Donald E. Stoltzfus of York; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 121 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 9378, 2595 Interstate Dr., Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110. To honor Kenneth’s memory, the family requests all who attend services to wear blue.
