York—Kenneth R. Richter, 83, died Saturday, November 5, 2011 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Jane (Bowman) Richter with whom he celebrated 38 years of marriage on June 9th, 2011. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 A.M., Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. Uble Frost, officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11 A.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born September 13, 1928 in York, he was a son of the late Stanley M. and Mary A. (Pace) Richter. He was employed with Cooper Tools as Director of International Sales, where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 1995. A United States Army Veteran of World War II, he was also a member of the Hallam VFW Post 7045, Shiloh American Legion Post 791, Hawks Gunning Club and the Delphia Club. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf and will be sadly missed by his special buddy Nicholas and his dog Hunter. In addition to his wife, Mr. Richter is also survived by three children, Kurt A. Richter and his wife, Jo Ellen, of Sierra Vista, AZ, Karen A. Richter of North Ridge, CA and Kenneth R. Richter and his wife, Shellie of Las Vegas, NV; five step-children, Steven F. Taylor and his wife, Deb, Michael J. Taylor, Teresa L. Markey and her husband, Steven, D. Allen Taylor and his wife, Kris and Bonnie J. Taylor and her husband, Brent Capatch, all of York; two grandsons, Bryan K. Richter of Tucson, AZ and Kevin M. Richter of Sierra Vista, AZ; nine step-grandchildren, Brianne Kehr, Dustin Markey, Derek Markey, Stevi Pusey, Britt Taylor, Alyssa Markey, Jace Hewitt, Jenna Taylor and Stehl Taylor all of York; five step-great grandsons, Nicholas, Logan and Samuel Hewitt, Cohen Grove and Austin Kehr all of York; two sisters, June Mesarick of Norman, OK and Arlene Moore of Mesa, AZ and 2 nieces and 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Richter. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, Pa 17406.
