SPRINGFIELD- Kenneth R. Chapman, 82, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2009 at his home in Springfield, PA (Bradford County). Kenneth was born March 30, 1926 in Overton, PA, the son of the late Ralph and Lavina (Kobbe) Chapman. In 1953 he married Jane Young. After his marriage to Jane he farmed, worked for the Leona Meat Plant, and retired from Southern Tier Transport where he was a truck driver. Kenneth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, and his interests included woodworking, folk music, pets, hunting, and traveling, especially with his family. Kenneth is survived by his wife Jane; his children include Cindy (Tony) Carr of Casanova, NY, and their daughters Christina and Jennifer Carr; Nancy (Christopher) DeHaas of Cochranville, PA and children Aaren and Alyssa DeHaas; David (Karen) Chapman of Rome, PA and his children Shane, Nicole, and Dylan Chapman, Kenneth (Sheila) Chapman, Jr. of Ithaca, NY, and their children Susan and Kevin Chapman; his brothers John (Mary Jane) Chapman of Springfield, PA, Dean (Beverly) Chapman of Cobbleskill, NY, and Victor (Pat) Chapman of Springfield, PA; his sister Joyce Bradford of Mainesburg, PA, along with several nieces and nephews. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Louise Weed, Eleanor Jenning, and Cleota Furman. Family and friends are welcome for a time of visitation from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, February 19, 2009 and again Friday morning, February 20th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Kenneth's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home with Pastors Richard Pratt and Bill Bardo officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
