Kenneth M. Stokes

AIRVILLE Kenneth M. Stokes, 77, died at 7:30 pm Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Shrewsbury. He was the husband of Lois M. (Keller) Stokes with whom he celebrated a 58th wedding anniversary on December 31, 2012. Following cremation, a service to celebrate Mr. Stokes’ life will be 10 am Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Pine Grove Rd., Airville with his pastor, the Rev. James B. Shuler officiating. The family will greet friends from 9 to 10 am at the church. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Stokes was born April 16, 1935, at home in Airville. He was the son of the late Elmer Barnes and Kathryn Lydia (Urey) Stokes. He was a 1953 graduate of Lower Chanceford High School and went on to be a Bender, making cutting dies, at New Era Die in Red Lion for 43 ½ years, until retiring in 1998. He enjoyed the outdoors, square dancing at Fiddler’s and playing cards, especially “500”. Most of all, though, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stokes leaves his three sons, Denny and his wife, Connie Stokes of Red Lion, Dean Stokes at home in Airville, and Doug and his wife, Kristen Stokes of Delta; his two daughters, Brenda and her husband, Mike Tome of Windsor and Bonnie and her husband, Todd Druck of Red Lion; nine grandchildren, Chris and his wife, Lisa Stokes, Steven Stokes, Heather and Holly Stokes, Austin Tome, Tyler and Lauren Druck and Hunter and Connor Stokes; three great grandchildren, Jade, Lydia and Trenton; and a sister, Helen Arnold and husband, Palmer of East Prospect.
