Kenneth Lee Markel

DALLASTOWN- Kenneth L. Markel, 63, passed away on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at Manor Care Health Services- Dallastown. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion, with the Reverend Richard Starr officiating. Full military rites will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor guard prior to the service. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Markel was born on September 8, 1946, the son of Mildred Schroeder and the late Richard E. Markel. He worked as an Inspector at General Dynamics OTS until his retirement on April 1. Mr. Markel served our country in the U.S. Navy for four years as well as the U.S. Air force for four years. Mr. Markel was a 1965 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. He was a member of the Dallastown American Legion Post # 605 and the Red Lion VFW post # 1446. He also enjoyed collecting beer meisters. Along with his mother, Mildred Schroeder, Mr. Markel is survived by one brother, Quay Markel and his wife, Linda of Dallastown; and one nephew, Scott E. Markel of Studio City, CA.
