Kenneth L. Guthrie

SPRINGFIELD, PA- Kenneth L. Guthrie, 80, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on Monday January 3, 2011 at the Troy Community Hospital. Ken was a lifetime resident of the Springfield community with his wife, Edna L. (Clark) Guthrie. The couple married July 3, 1954 and had 55 happy years together. Ken was born on February 10, 1930 in Springfield, son of the late Lewis Tink and F. Evelyn (Bourdette) Guthrie. He was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1947. He was the Shop Foreman for Canton Manufacturing. Since his retirement in 1995 he has enjoyed gardening and being the fix-it person for anyone who needed his help. He liked working on cars and lawn mowers, and would fabricate parts and pieces to make the machinery work. Ken loved his antique Farmall tractor and would be seen driving it in parades in the area. Ken is survived by his loving wife Edna, his children Aaron (Karen) Guthrie of Litchfield, PA, and Karen (Joe) Zug of West Chester, PA, his grandchildren: Clayton and Jacob Zug, Alyssa and Kendra Guthrie, his brothers Tom (Cheryl) Guthrie and their children Greg and Kelly, and Clarence Ozzie (Sally) Guthrie and their children LuAnn and Terri, his sisters-in-law Betty Brown and Lois Clark, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers-in-law: Willard Brown and Robert Clark. Kens wishes were to have a private funeral service and burial. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2011 at the Springfield Baptist Church, 3093 Springfield Road, Columbia Cross Roads, PA for a time of fellowship, food, and sharing memories of Ken.
