Kenneth L. Eppley

YORK - Kenneth L. Eppley, 83, died Sunday, January 28, 2007 at Rest Haven - York. He was the husband of the late Betty [Portner] Eppley. A graveside service will be 10:00 AM Thursday at Bethlehem {Stonepile} U.M. Cemetery with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born June 22, 1923 in Red Lion a son of the late H. Clay and Flora B. [Gruver] Eppley, he retired in 1983 from Allis Chalmers Co. He was a member of Red Lion American Legion; VFW Post 556, York; and International Association of Machinists # 1400. He was also a US Army veteran of WWII where he earned two bronze stars. Mr. Eppley is survived by two sons, John L. and wife Kathy Eppley of Spokane, WA and James R. and wife Rae Lynn Eppley of York; three daughters, Vickie L. and husband Thomas Copp of York, Lisa A. and husband John Griffie of New Oxford, and Diann S. and husband Steven Ernst of Hanover; six grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Grace Sourbier and Kathryn Alagood both of York, and Mary Williams of Petersburg, VA. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Barshinger and Esther Huff; and a brother, Richard Eppley.
