IN LOVING MEMORY OF HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER Kenneth G. Rabenstein age 87 and a former resident of Altoona and Huntingdon, PA went to be with his Lord at his home in Dover, PA, Monday, August 3, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona, PA, September 29, 1932 the son of Rev. John E. Rabenstein and Mable (Jones) Rabenstein. He is a Navy veteran, who served aboard the USS New Jersey. and retired from the US Naval Reserves. Kenneth retired from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA after 25 years as Director of the Physical Plant. While at Juniata College he received an Honorary Award to Sigma Iota Rho. He is one of the first 10 people to receive this honorary award for his service with the International Students Program. The membership is limited to persons officially associated with colleges as faculty, students and those elected as honorary members. He is preceded in death by his father, mother and stepmother Lois (Schuller) Rabenstein . Survived by his wife Shirley A. (Smith) Rabenstein of Dover, PA, son John and Shari Rabenstein of East Berlin PA and his daughter Janice (Rabenstein) Myers of Silver Spring, MD. He is also survived by his brother John E. Rabenstein Jr. of Mechanicsburg, PA. He was grandfather to Eric J. Rabenstein of Adamstown, PA, Zachary C. Myers of Vero Beach, FL, and Kristen M. Rabenstein of Washington, NJ. While in Huntingdon he attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church on Moore Street where he served as Deacon and Head Usher. Upon moving to Dover he became a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, serving as Deacon and Board Member. Ken loved to sing and participated in the Lighthouse Baptist Church Choir. Viewing will be held August 8, 2020 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, Dover, PA at 10:00am to 11:00am. Funeral Service immediately following at 11:00am to 12:00pm. Reception and luncheon to follow. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Baptist Church JIM Program. Sadly, missed by family, friends, and everyone who’s life he touched.
