ETTERS- Kenneth G. “Ken” Markley, 65, of Newberry Township, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Harrisburg Hospital. He was the husband of Leona M. “Toots” (Updegraff) Markley. The couple celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on November 9, 2012. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street in Lewisberry. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday and a visitation from 10-11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The family requests that attendee’s of the service dress casually. The Reverend James Winter will be officiating the service. Ken was born in Newberry Township on August 22, 1947, the son of the late Clayton Markley, Sr. and Anna (Richcreek) Markley. He retired from Johnson Controls in York and owned and operated Ken’s Garage at his residence. Ken was a member of UAW Local #1872. Along with his wife, he leaves two daughters, Tammy S. Dolan and her husband Douglas of Etters, Jodie Y. Wright and her husband Jeffrey of Lewisberry; three grandchildren, Heather Goodwin and her husband Kevin of York, Jeffrey Wright, Jr. and his fiancée Amanda, of Etters and Nichole Dolan of Etters; a great grandson, Chayce Goodwin; two brothers, Clayton “Bud” Markley, Jr. of York and Ernest “Ern” Markley of York Haven; and a sister Airetta “Airy” Larson of Lewisberry. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Edward Markley and a sister, Dollie Ann Kennedy. He leaves his boxer, Rocky and his cats Pippy and Buttercup, who were his constant companions. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or SPCA.
