YORK – Kenneth E. Keeney, 85, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Rest Haven – York. He was the husband of Ada B. (Ruppert) Keeney to whom he was married for 63 years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Shrewsbury Dunkard Brethren Church, 216 N. Main Street, Shrewsbury with Elder Robert Lehigh and Elder Marlin Marks officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Wednesday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Born April 1, 1926 in York County, a son of the late Elsie (Godfrey) and Norman Keeney, Sr., he had worked at Campbell Chain Co., York Shipley, and later retired from Voith Hydro after more than 20 years of service. Mr. Keeney also operated his family farms. He was a member of Shrewsbury Dunkard Brethren Church, the NRA, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Mr. Keeney is survived by two sons, Randal E. and wife Darlene Keeney of Seven Valleys and Harold L. and wife Wilma Keeney of Myerstown; 14 grandchildren, John, Sam, Rebecca, Jennifer, Amy, Julie, Emily, Andy, Krissy, Kimberly, Kenny, Keith, Kevin, and Kyle; 39 great grandchildren; a brother, Norman Keeney, Jr. of Red Lion; and two sisters, Marguerite Marks of Dallastown and Dorothy Marks of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elva Schildt and a brother, Laverne Keeney. Memorial contributions may be made to Shrewsbury Dunkard Brethren Church, 216 N. Main St., Shrewsbury, PA 17361.
