WILLIAMSPORT - Kenneth Boyd Holmes, 72, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at his residence. Kenneth was married on September 04, 1983 to the former Wanda J. (Whipkey) and celebrated 29 years of marriage. He was born June 20, 1940 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Floyd V. and Dorothy (Greenawalt) Holmes. Kenneth had served with the US Army during the Vietnam War as a SSG and received the Bronze Star Medal with “V” Service for heroism in Vietnam and the Purple Heart. He was a lifetime member of all of the following; American Legion Post #1, Disabled American Veterans, Purple Heart Association, VFW Post #844 and the AMVETS Post #5. He enjoyed watching TV and NASCAR Racing. In addition to his wife Wanda, he is survived by two sons; Steven S. Simbeck, Sr. and Michael L. Simbeck, both of Williamsport, two daughters and one son-in-law; Toni L. Simbeck of Williamsport and Babette E. and George Jessup of Buttonwood, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers and sisters-in-law; Floyd V. and Judy Holmes, Jr. of Bethlehem and Larry R. and Diane Holmes of Petal, Mississippi, one sister and brother-in-law; Deloris and Roy Lewis, Sr. of Williamsport and his three beloved dogs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert and Mark Holmes. There will be a public viewing 1 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 01, 2013 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport. There will be a funeral procession from the funeral home and going to Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy for the graveside service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Military Honors will be provided by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County.
