Kenneth Allen Stites, Sr.

YORK- Kenneth Allen Stites, Sr., 92, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Joyce (Garwood) Stites. The couple would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this coming June. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Born March 5, 1926 in Magnolia, New Jersey, Kenneth was a son to the late Francis Marion and Edna May (Chew) Stites. He worked as a paint mixer for CJ Osborn until his retirement in 1991. Mr. Stites served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in York. Kenneth served as the first president of the Magnolia Historical Society. In addition to his wife, Joyce, Mr. Stites is survived by two sons, Kenneth A. Stites, Jr. and his wife, Christine McHugh-Stites of Stratford, NJ, and Steven “Todd” Stites and his wife, Sharon of York; a daughter, Shirley Inlow and her husband, Michael of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Along with his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his 8 siblings. Memorial contributions may be made to the Magnolia Historical Society, 215 West Atlantic Avenue, Magnolia, NJ 08049.
