YORK- Kay B. (Middleton) Roche, 73, passed away on Sunday, May 13, 2012 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Barry R. Roche. The couple planned to celebrate their 54th wedding anniversary on June 14th. A memorial service will be 12 noon on Friday, May 18, 2012 at St Paul’s United Methodist Church, 128 S. Belvidere Ave., York, with Pastor Steve Cowfer officiating. A visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12p.m. prior to the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on June 26, 1938, Kay was a daughter of the late Lester A. and Alverta (Druck) Middleton. Mrs. Roche worked for 22 years as a head cashier for Food Fair-Pantry Pride and as a clerk at National Cash Register. After retirement, she worked as a cafeteria aide at York Votech and babysat her grandchildren. Mrs. Roche was a member of St Paul’s United Methodist Church where she was involved with the United Methodist Women’s Club and the United Methodist Game Group. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society “Misfits” and Beta Sigma Phi. Kay loved life and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed traveling, crossword and board games. Her most cherished moments were those spent with friends and family. Along with her husband, Barry, Mrs. Roche is survived by one daughter, Lori A. Brown and her husband, Steve of Dover; two grandchildren, Amanda K. Lantz and her husband, Richard of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Garrett Brown of Dover; three brothers, Donald Middleton, Kent Middleton and Keith Middleton; one sister, Linda Hoffman; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Middleton; and one sister, Sonja Gilmore. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 128 S. Belvidere Ave., York, PA 17404.
