Kay A. (Horn) Becker

SEATTLE, WA - Kay A. (Horn) Becker, 76, passed away on August 3, 2014 in her home, after a long fight with Alzheimer’s disease. She was surrounded by family and friends at the time of her death. Kay is survived by her daughter, Kyra J. Becker, of Seattle. She was predeceased by her husband William R. Becker and her son Vance W. Becker in 2002. A public viewing will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 pm Monday, August 11, 2014 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, followed by a tribute to her life at 1:30 pm. Kay was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Red Lion before moving to Seattle. Pastor Tim Funk of St. Paul’s will be officiating her service. Interment will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born June 27, 1938, in York, Kay was the daughter of the late George A. Horn and Esther Viola (Snyder) Horn. She graduated from Red Lion High School in 1956 and married her high school sweet heart, William “Bill” Becker, in 1957. After raising her children, she enjoyed working for Pan World Travel. Kay was a wonderful wife and mother. She was warm, friendly and full of life. For Kay, there were no strangers, just friends she had yet to meet. Upon disembarking an airplane, it seemed as if she was always saying goodbye to several new friends made en route. Kay had a passion for travel. She and her husband Bill traveled the world together; they visited all 50 states, as well as international destinations like Europe, Egypt, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, and the Galapagos Islands. Kay and Bill were also avid boaters - they spent summers on the Chesapeake Bay and were very involved with the York Power Squadron. They also shared numerous boating adventures in the Caribbean with friends. Those who knew Kay also knew of her love for everything Frank Sinatra – she had an encyclopedic knowledge of the man, and she and Bill were also fortunate enough to see him in concert on several occasions. Kay will be missed sorely by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc. 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
