Kathryn M. (Stern) Phillips

RED LION-Kathryn M. (Stern) Phillips, 89, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at York Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late William R. Phillips, who died July 22, 1993, to whom she was married to for 54 years. A celebration of life service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with her pastor the Rev. Dennis A. Hummel officiating. A viewing will be held 10-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Stonepile United Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was born July 12, 1920 in Kyleville, PA, a daughter of the late Joseph E. and Lydia A. (Horner) Stern. She was a former employee of York Dress Company until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Yorkshire United Methodist Church. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed traveling on family vacations, gardening, needle work, crocheting; but most of all her family. They were her life. She was a kind and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She spent her life helping others and caring for her family. She was a very special lady. Mrs. Phillips is survived by two daughters, Sandra L. Shellenberger of Red Lion, and Lydia A. Flinchbaugh and husband, Thomas A. of York; six grandchildren, Todd M. Snyder and wife, Debra, Terry J. Snyder and wife, Erika, Christine E. Gingerich and husband, Jeffrey, Katharine M. Snyder and husband, Scot, Dale Matthew Shellenberger, and Luke P. Shellenberger; 10 great grandchildren; a sister Lydia A. Brenneman of Dallastown; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy L. Snyder; four brothers, Joseph, John, James and Lewis Stern; a sister, Jeannie Orwig; and two son-in-laws, Dale L. Shellenberger, and James W. Snyder, III.
