YORK – Kathryn L. (Hoffman) Wherley, 74, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Manor Care – Kingston Court after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of C. Edward Wherley to whom she was married for 56 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 28, 2013at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion with her pastor, The Rev. Steven C. Almquist officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Wednesday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion and from 10-11:00 AM Thursday at the Church. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born March 15, 1938 in York a daughter of the late Samuel O. and Dorothy R. (Paddison) Hoffman, she retired from York International in 2002 after more than 25 years of service. Mrs. Wherley attended Living Word Church, was an avid reader, and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wherley is survived by a son, Barry E. Wherley of York; two daughters, Barbara W. and husband David Ferriter of Penfield, NY and Bonnie S. and husband Michael Hartman of York; eight grandchildren, Stephanie and Meghan Ferriter, Caitlin Marchand, Bianca and Samuel Wherley, Barry Wherley, II, Brandon McWilliams, and Russell Hartman; two step grandsons, Stephan and Josh Hartman; two great grandchildren, Isabella Wherley and Kenley McWilliams; four step great grandchildren; a sister, Mildred and husband Gerald Barbor of York; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ferriter; and a sister, Joan Hoffman.
