Willow Street - Kathryn K. (Keesey) Julius, 86 died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Willow Valley Lakes Manor in Willow Street, PA. She was the wife of the late C. Lester Julius who died June of 2000. The couple celebrated 25 years of marriage. Mrs. Julius was born January 31, 1922, a daughter of the late Walter O. H. and Katie F. (Wagner) Keesey of York County, Stewartstown, PA. Kathryn attended Hyson's one room school in East Hopewell Township, graduated from Stewartstown High School in 1940, and continued her education at Prowell's commercial school in York. Mrs. Julius was employed as a secretary to Attorney William S. Eisenhart Jr. of York and later worked at Farm Credit, now known at Ag First, in York until her retirement. Kathryn and Lester moved to Willow Valley Lakes Manor in July of 1986. She and her husband did quite a bit of traveling. Kathryn was a member of the Willow Street United Church of Christ, Willow Street, PA. She enjoyed music and sang in a church choir, York Chorus, Yorkettes, and York Symphony Chorus. She also used her musical talents to sing at vesper services being held in the auditorium at Willow Valley. One of seven children, Kathryn is survived by her sister Helen K. Johnson of Airville, PA, and a brother, Walter Russell H. Keesey and wife Martha of Lancaster, PA. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Julius now joins her three sisters and a brother who predeceased her. They are M. Elizabeth Keesey, Olive K. Hersey, Effie K. Nitchman, and Henry W. Keesey. Kathryn willed her body for studies in furtherance of scientific medicine to the "Humanity Gifts Registry of the State of Pennsylvania." A memorial service will be held at Willow Street United Church of Christ, 2723 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA on Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Ron Bohannon officiating. Friends may gather one half-hour prior to the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Lancaster County, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604.
