Kathryn J. (Johnson) Zimmerman

Airville—Kathryn J. (Johnson) Zimmerman, 101, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services—South. She was the wife of the late Clyde B. Zimmerman to whom she was married for 43 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 AM, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Rd, Airville with her pastor, the Rev. James Shuler officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM, Saturday at church. Burial will be held in New Harmony Presbyterian Cemetery. Born May 28, 1914 in Airville, she was a daughter of the late Wilmer and Anna Mary (Sechrist) Johnson. Along with her husband, they founded and operated Zimmerman’s General Store in Sunnyburn from 1938 to 1978. A graduate of Lower Chanceford High School, she was a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, where she was actively involved and busy baking cakes for church socials and numerous others in the community. In addition, she was also a member of the Airville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, Pine Grove Missionary Society and a life member of the Dr. J.M. Hyson Memorial Court-Order of Amaranth. Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by one sister, Sara J. Craley of Red Lion and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Taylor and June Smith and one brother, Thomas Johnson.
