Kathryn I. (Gardner) Curchoe

WILLIAMSPORT - Kathryn I. (Gardner) Curchoe, 91, formerly of Hepburn Street, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Valley View Nursing Home, Montoursville. Kathryn was born on November 10, 1919 in Milton and was the daughter of the late Grover and Beulah (Bailey) Gardner. She married her late husband, Lawrence S. Curchoe at Mater Dolorosa Church in 1941 and celebrated 41 years of marriage before his death in 1982. Kathryn graduated from Milton High School, class of 1936 and was an executive secretary for ACF in Milton before her marriage. After her marriage, she went to work for the former Curchoe's Food Center as the bookkeeper until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of the Mater Dolorosa Church where she was a member of the choir, the Christian Mothers Society, a volunteer Sunday School teacher, a den mother and helped with various functions at the church. She was a member of the Curtin and Cochran PTA for many years and enjoyed golfing and was an avid reader. She spent her retirement years enjoying time with her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law; Roy F. and Mary Curchoe of Williamsport, Richard P. and Sherrie Curchoe of Florence, SC, Stephen M. and Donna Curchoe of Williamsport and Fred L. and Jeannie Curchoe of S. Williamsport, two daughters and sons-in-law; Eileen M. and Tom Stiadle of Montgomery and Laura S. Cullens and Robert Hetzel of Louisville, KY, 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. There will be a public viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Mater Dolorosa Church, 635 Hepburn St., Williamsport, PA 17701 with the Reverend Shane L. Kirby officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Mater Dolorosa Church, The American Cancer Society, 1948 East Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 71 North Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
