Kathryn E. Fritz

YORK - Kathryn E. "Kit" (Staley) Fritz, 85, died peacefully Tuesday evening, December 15, 2009, at her home at Country Meadows of Leader Heights. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald R. Fritz, on December 25, 2007. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Fritz was born on May 28, 1924, in York. She was the daughter of the late Walter C. and Dorothy L. (Sipe) Staley. She was a 1942 graduate of York High and worked for many years in the secretarial departments of the former Martin Perry Co. and Naval Ordinance Plant in York. She enjoyed playing cards, but especially enjoyed spending time at the beach. Along with her late husband, she divided much of her time between York and their second homes at the beaches in both Ocean City, Md. and the Outer Banks, where the couple frequently entertained family and friends. She was also a devoted Aunt and cared dearly for her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fritz is survived by her two sisters, Edna Mae Sites and husband, John of York and Gloria J. Becker of York: four nieces, Karen Wells, Cindy Newcomer, Debora Young and Carol Henze; three nephews, Larry Becker, Jeffrey Sites and David Sites; 12 great nieces and nephews; and nine great-great nieces and nephews.
