Kathleen A. (Connell) Dgien

WILLIAMSPORT - Kathleen A. (Connell) Dgien, 86, died on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Williamsport Home. Kathleen was born on November 9, 1924 in Williamsport and was the daughter of the late James M. and Nellie E. (Harkins) Connell. She was married to the late Frank Dgien, who had died on June 16, 1976 and was married for 30 years before his death. Kathleen was a graduate of the former St. Joseph’s High School and was a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. Kathleen is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Edward F. and Kelly Dgien of Charlotte, NC and Frank E. and Wendy Dgien of Williamsport, three daughters and two sons-in-law; Margaret and Mark Rachael of Williamsport, Eileen Dgien and her husband Don of Trout Run and Connie Dgien of Lumberton, NJ, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and four sisters; Barbara Connell, Patricia DeSanto and Theresa Snauffer, all of Williamsport and Ellen Maietta of Hagerstown, MD. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers; James and Gerard and four sisters; Mary, Phyllis, Joan and Celest. There will be a memorial service held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport with the Reverend Shane L. Kirby officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Annunciation Church, 711 West Edwin St., Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are being handled by the Allen and Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport.
