Katherine M. (Mcdonald) Mager

POTTSVILLE - Katherine M. Mager, 87, of Pottsville, died on Monday morning at the Orwigsburg Center. Born in Jersey City, NJ, on May 4, 1919, she was a daughter of the late William and Rose Levine Springstead McDonald. She graduated from the Jersey City High School. Until retiring, she was employed by the State of New Jersey Board of Education. She was a member of the St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. She was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and the St. Paul Senior Club, both in Jersey City. She was married to the late John H. Mager, who preceded her in death. Surviving Katherine are: a daughter, Kathleen, wife of Robert Renninger, of Pottsville; three granddaughters, Joann Bendarz, Karen Traina and Angela Serpe; a grandson, John Adams; a sister Rose Ganley; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: a son, Robert Mager; a grandson, Michael Adams; four sisters, Mary Zimmerman, Joan Kennely, Ella Mawhinney and Grace Angell; and two brothers, William and John McDonald. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM from the St. Ambrose Church, Schuylkill Haven. The Rev. Abraham Ha will officiate. Family and friends may call at the church from 10AM until time of service. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pottsville. The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, 6th &. W. Market St., Pottsville, is handling the arrangements.
