Karen M. Smith

YORK- Karen M. (Swords) Smith, 66, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Gardens of Camp Hill. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Pastor Matthew Boyer officiating. Viewings will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born on March 15, 1951 in York, she was a daughter of the late Clarence W. and Thelma V. (Benedict) Swords, Jr. Karen worked at Pfaltzgraff for 36 years and retired as a cashier from Giant. Karen was a member of Dillsburg Missionary Alliance Church and Dover Fire Co. In her spare time, she loved reading and going to breakfast with her family. Karen leaves two nieces, Ashley L. Bushey and her husband, James and Amber Therit; her uncle, Ray Benedict; and brother in law, Phil Therit. She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan E. Therit.
