York--Karen E. (Sullivan) Warner, 75, passed away May 11, 2018. She was the wife of Karl A. Warner Sr. with whom she shared 56 years together. Born on April 15, 1943 in York, she was the daughter of the late Margaretta (Long) McCauslin and the late Claude E. Dubbs. Karen is survived by her children; Kathleen Warner and her partner Ted Taormina of York, Karl Warner Jr. and his partner Monica Hollinger of York, and Kenneth and wife Sarah Warner of Salt Lake City; 4 grandchildren, Emily and Rachel King, Miranda Warner and Mackenzie Warner, and 2 great grandsons Jayden and Karl Rathmell. Karen retired from the Lincoln Intermediate Unit where she worked in adult education for 38 years. She also taught swimming lessons and Lifeguard Training at the YWCA York for 45 years. She enjoyed volunteering at the SPCA with the cats and kittens. Karen graduated from West York High School in 1962 and earned her bachelor’s degree from York College of PA in 1993. She was a member of Otterbein UM Church where she taught Children and Adult Sunday school for many years as well as serving on several church committees. She was an independent thinker, a respecter of life, a lover of nature, a family nurturer, a pursuer of education, and a believer in God Her hobbies included kayaking and traveling the world with her husband. Together they traveled to all 50 states with the Arizona Grand Canyon as a personal favorite and several continents including a recent trip to Antarctica. Preceding her in death were a brother Charles E. Sullivan and a sister Darla Deardorff. A memorial service will be held at a future date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is in charge of arrangements.
