June L. (Strine) Sheffer

York—June L. (Strine) Sheffer, 83, passed away, Monday, March 29, 2010 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Glenn L. Sheffer. A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with the Rev. Richard Starr, officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born August 9, 1926 in York, she was a daughter of the late Leroy P. and Maud M. (Clark) Strine. Mrs. Sheffer retired from Fincor after several years of service as an assembler. She was previously employed with Jason's Sewing Factory as a seamstress and at the Strand Capital, where she worked in the ticket office. She was a member of the W. York Reliance Fire Company No. 1, W. York V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and AARP. She enjoyed knitting, puzzle books, reading and was formerly a member of a bowling and archary team. Mrs. Sheffer is survived by three grandchildren, Sharon L. Stough and husband Dallas of York, Jeffrey L. Bennett of Henderson, NV, and Bradley L. Bennett Jr, and wife Sandra of Laconia, NH, one great grandchild, Melissa M. Bennett, 5 step-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon S. "Susie" Strine, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Reliance Fire Company No. 1, 1341 W. Market Street, York, Pa 17404.
