Judy Ann (Fisher) Bemis

Judy Ann Bemis, 72 years young, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, after a long illness. A sensitive, caring person, Judy was the product of her late parents, Charles H. Fisher, and Margareta (Schamel) Fisher, and originally from southern Indiana. She devoted her life not only to her family, but nearly 40 years of it to federal service as an administrative assistant with The Departments of the Navy, Air Force, and Army, culminating her career with her position working for the U.S. Army Chief of Engineers in the Pentagon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road in York. A viewing will be held from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM on Thursday. Interment is to be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Among her hobbies in life, she created several pieces of ceramic pottery and figurines, did needlepoint, much of which has been framed, and she was a collector of many beautiful things, including bird figurines, M&M candy dispensers, dolls from all over the world, and a small collection of cloisonne items from the Orient. Part of the secret of this work and collecting was that she followed her husband, Jim, around a significant part of the world during his 22 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. He survives her after nearly 40 years of marriage. Also surviving her are her three children – Kristina Tucker Weaver, Bryan Weaver and his wife Kristi, and Jaclyn Meyer and her husband Theo – as well as six grandchildren evenly divided between the three children, namely Brittany, Aileese, Matthew, Noah, Ben, and Daniel. She also is survived by her great-grandson Finn, as well as her brother Hanjo Hoch, sister Kathy Wallace, and brother David Fisher. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your charity of choice. For Judy, her favorite charity was St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Other possible recommended charities include the American Cancer Society, American Ostomy Association, and the Alzheimer’s Association. CLICK HERE TO SEND FLOWERS
