Judy A. Smyser

YORK – On October 20, 2023, Judy Ann (Ernst) Smyser, 75, is at peace from her fight with cancer at her home. She was the beloved wife of Michael L. Smyser for 53 years.

Judy was born in York, PA on October 14, 1948 to the late William and Vivian (Smith) Ernst. She graduated from Central York High School in 1966.

In addition to her husband Mike, Judy is survived by her daughter, Dr. Courtney Smyser-Kimball and husband Dean; and the joys of her life, her grandchildren Madelyn and Nathan Kimball of York; her brother; Michael Ernst and wife Vickie of Spring Grove; her cousin, Linda Robinson of Fredericksburg, VA; along with several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

For those that knew Judy, besides her family she loved three other things; talking, shopping, and communicating through emails. She especially enjoyed meeting with her high school lunch bunch, going with her friends to craft shows, sending cards and letters, talking on the phone, visiting tea rooms, and decorating her home for each season and holiday.

The family would like to thank Cancer Care Associates of York for their years of dedicated service; Hospice & Community Care for treating her with kindness during her final days; Visiting Angels Living Assistance Services York; and Wellspan doctors, nurses, and staff through her cancer journey.

The burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York has been entrusted by the family with the arrangements.
