Juanita M. (Mellon) Owens

WALDORF, MD – Juanita Marie (Mellon) Owens, 85, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 at ManorCare Camp Hill. She was the wife of the late Charles L. Owens. Services and burial will be private at the request of the family. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Owens was born May 14, 1926 in Alexandria, VA. She was a daughter of the late Raymond J. and Irene C. (Thompson) Mellon. She worked for Bell Telephone Company as an operator, and later as a supervisor, for over 30 years. Mrs. Owens enjoyed gardening, babysitting her neighbor’s children, reading, shopping, square dancing, and canning and preserving foods. She was also a member of the Pioneer’s Club. Mrs. Owens is survived by four nieces, Michelle A. Sine of Lewisberry, Carmen DeSimone and Teresa Coffman both of Philadelphia, and Carla Gerardino of Texas; one great-niece, Carie Dougherty of Eagleville; and one great-nephew, Raymond Hernandez of Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond C. Mellon and a niece, Patricia Hernandez.
