Joyce V. (Hand) Perry

YORK- Joyce V. Leedy-Perry was called home to be with her Lord Jesus on Thursday, April 7th 2022. She was the wife of the late Delane V. Leedy Sr. who died November 26th, 1990 and the late Roger J. Perry who died March 16th, 2003. Born on October 24, 1936 in Clearfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late James M. Hand and the late Mary “Lena” (Oloughlin) Hand. Joyce retired from York City School District where she worked with special needs children. Her cause was Pro-Life and was an active letter writer in defence of the babies. In her former church, she was the Children’s Coordinator, teacher and Children’s choir leader. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she worked in minor roles and was an active participant on the prayer chain. Surviving are son Delane V. Leedy II and wife Lori of Dover, PA; daughter Evalena V. Leedy of Brooklyn, NY; two grandsons Delane V. Leedy III and wife Jennifer of Dover, PA and Kyle R. Leedy and wife Lindsey of York, PA; great-grandchildren, Delane V. Leedy IV, who died March 10th, 2009, Ashlynn Leedy, Delane William Leedy, and Nolan, Ethan, Alden and Hannah Leedy. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 14th, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave., York with her Pastor, the Reverend Gregory D. Wahlberg officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements.
