Joyce Marie (Freed) Young

YORK- Joyce Marie (Freed) Young, 82, died on Friday, January 31, 2014 at York Hospital. She was the longtime companion of Gene L. Myers of York. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Reverend Dr. Christopher D. Rodkey officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Born on May 22, 1931 in Wrightsville, she was the daughter of the late George and Marie (Landis) Freed. Joyce was a painter at John Wright Co. and also worked as an examiner for Hallam Hosiery Co. Mrs. Young enjoyed dancing, music, reading and going to the theatre. Mrs. Young is survived by one son, Lonnie Young and his wife, Diana of York; three daughters, Suzette Heiges and her husband, Milton of York, LuAnn Mummert and her husband, Timothy of Dover and Annette Friedman and her husband, Lee of Dallastown; 12 grandchildren, Todd and Jason Heiges, Timothy, Travis, Stevi and Jessica Mummert, Suzanne Noel, Avrom and J. Joseph Friedman, Colin and Megan Young and Victoria Bock; nine great grandchildren, Britny Wylie, Chase Heiges, Gabriel, Faith Lillien, Tristan, Pyper and Tyson Mummert and Naimah Duval; and two great grandchildren, Benton & Hudson Wylie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth N. Young. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 924 N. Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
