Joyce M. Curran

RENOVO - Joyce M. (Calhoun) Curran, 74, passed into her heavenly reward on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Bucktail Medical Center, S. Renovo. She was born Sept., 22, 1941 in Renovo a daughter of the late Edwin and Francis (Botsford) Calhoun. Joyce was married 57 years to Frederick P. “Fred” Curran they were married in Renovo on September 19, 1959. Joyce lived an active life, working at Bucktail Medical Center where she also served on the board in the late 1990s. She also owned her own beauty shop in Renovo. While living in New Jersey, she worked as a supervisor for ServiceMaster at Perth Amboy General Hospital. Joyce loved to travel. She visited Italy and went to the Vatican, Germany and France where she saw the Eiffel Tower. She and Fred enjoyed their visit to the American and British Virgin Islands and also a memorable trip to Hawaii. But, for Joyce, her favorite trip was to Niagara Falls, Canada on her honeymoon with Fred. Fred and Joyce spent much of their retirement in Tucson, AZ and Boca Raton, FL, before moving back to their hometown Renovo. Joyce will be remembered fondly by all of her friends and relatives. Surviving are her loving husband; two sons Scott Curran of Lexington, KY and Richard Curran of Bowling Green KY also two daughters Tracy (Eugene) Bruno of Milton and Kelley (George) Varner of Brush Valley, PA. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Three brothers Allen Botsford of Binghamton, NY, Lynn Calhoun of Reynoldsville and Larry Calhoun of S. Renovo. One sister Silvia Linn of Columbus, OH. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept., 24, 2016 at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth St., Renovo with Martha Sykes officiating. Friends and relatives will be received from 10:30 – 11:00. Interment will be private at New Maple Grove Cemetery, Leidy Twp. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Bucktail Medical Center, a place Joyce loved.
