Joyce (Lehmann) Beeson

HANOVER - Joyce (Lehmann) Beeson, 91, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 14, 2014 at her residence. She was the wife of the late James M. Beeson, who passed away on March 29, 2012. The couple wed on April 5, 1944. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, 2740 Roosevelt Ave., York, with Rev. Gregory Wahlberg officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Born on November 7, 1923 in Ridley Park, she was the daughter of the late Leonard E. and Frieda A. (Klinke) Lehmann. Mrs. Beeson graduated from High School in Philadelphia and attended Juniata College. She was a homemaker, supporting her husband in ministry for 20 years until retiring to Maryland in 1982. She then worked for the Talbot County Health Department for 10 years. Over the years she was involved in various church ministries, but most enjoyed teaching a Sunday School class of young teen girls. Mrs. Beeson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved gardening and playing the piano and organ. Mrs. Beeson is survived by one son, Leonard J. Beeson and his wife, Sheila of Street, MD; one daughter, Charlotte B. Burkhardt and her husband, James of Hanover; and two grandchildren, Amy Burkhardt of New York City and Alex Burkhardt and his wife, Kathleen of Leola.
