Joyce I. (Yarborough) Kerns

YORK – Joyce I. (Yarborough) Kerns, 86, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2012 at her home. She was the wife of the late Clyde Hottle, Jr. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A viewing will be held from 1-2:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Born November 12, 1926 in Worthing, South Dakota, a daughter of the late Alan V. and Inga L. (Elster) Yarborough. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, SD. Mrs. Kerns was recruited by the FBI during WWII and moved to Virginia where she had resided until her move to York in 2005. Joyce loved the food service industry and worked in various restaurants until her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, embroidery, and was an avid reader. While in Alexandria, VA she was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Mrs. Kerns is survived by a son, Richard L. and wife Donna Kerns of Monks Corner, SC; two daughters, Inga L. and husband Keith Smith of Columbus, OH and Diane H. and husband Charles Logan of York; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; and two daughter of the heart, Judy Mungle of York and Julia Zinader of South Jordan, UT. She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Alan Kerns.
