Joy May (Chilcote) Thompson

DOVER- Joy May (Chilcote) Thompson, 62, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer, entered the kingdom of heaven on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at her residence where she was surrounded by her family. Ms. Thompson was born on November 4, 1947, daughter of the late Carman and Gloria (Brengle) Chilcote of Baltimore, MD. She worked as a Graphic Designer for McCormick & Co in Hunt Valley, Md. Ms. Thompson was a member of Christ's American Baptist Church. Ms. Thompson was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family always came first. Joy also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and weekend trips to Atlantic City. She loved her trips to Las Vegas and Hawaii. Joy is survived by her partner of 33 years, Lee Miller; her daughter, Tracy Lloyd and her husband, Stephen of Dover; two grandsons, Gabriel Lloyd and Nicholas Lloyd; one brother, Carman Chilcote and his wife, Gail of Garden Grove, CA; one sister, Gloria Singleton of Baltimore, MD; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Chilcote. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Christ's American Baptist Church, 730 Menges Mill Rd., Spring Grove, with Pastor Todd Witmer officiating. A viewing will be from 1-3 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
