DOVER- Josephine Jean (Hyson) Downs, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Manor Care Health Services, South. She was the wife of the late Henry Bradley Downs who passed away on January 3, 2004. The couple wed on September 26, 1953 and spent over 50 wonderful years together. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Living Word Community Church, 2530 Cape Horn Rd., Red Lion with Pastor Aaron Kunce officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be private at Hopewell United Presbyterian Cemetery Monday morning. Mrs. Downs was born on January 27, 1935 In Cross Roads, a daughter of the late Howard and Sarah (Enfield) Hyson. Josephine was a 1953 graduate of Red Lion High School. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Downs was a member of Living Word Community Church. Josephine was an encourager and showed great hospitality. She was known for sending greeting cards and thank you cards to everyone. Mrs. Downs is survived by a daughter, Debra Bachman and her husband, Anthony of Dover; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Jason, Kylah and Candice; two brothers, Richard Hyson and his wife, Joyce of Cross Roads and Donald Hyson and his wife, Judy of Red Lion; and a sister, Diane McCleary of York. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly A. Robinson.
