POTTSVILLE - Josephine E. Clay, 94, of Pottsville, died Wednesday morning at Luther Ridge. Born in Wadesville, March 19, 1914, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Pavlo Padlock. On Sept. 27, 1947, she married her husband, William H. Clay, who died in 1989. Josephine was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church since 1972. She was a life member of West End Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary, Pottsville, Six County Firemans ladies auxiliary, CB Radio Club, Schuylkill County CB Radio Club and American Legion Post 67 Auxiliary. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Clay; a brother, John Padlock; and two sisters, Mary Butts and Anna Mekosh. Surviving are a son, John, Pottsville; two daughters, Sharon and her husband, Ronald Kreiger, Pottsville, and Ann Marie and her husband, David Kull, Pine Grove; six grandchildren, David Kull, Denise Campbell, Brittanie Kreiger, Ben Kreiger, William Clay and Stephanie Clay-White; three grandchildren, Michael and Olivia White and Casey McCreery-Kull; several nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. David Loeper as the celebrant. Family and friends may call at the church from 8:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Interment will be in Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home Inc., Sixth and West Market streets, Pottsville, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions can be left in Josephine's name to Luther Ridge, 160 Red Horse Road, Pottsville, PA 17901.
