Joseph R. Sacripont, Sr

York—Joseph R. Sacripont, Sr., 77, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Rest Haven Nursing Home. He was the companion of the late Kay L. (McKinley) Fry. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with the Rev. Richard Starr officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m., Saturday, at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born August 17, 1931 in York, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Rooney) Sacripont. He was employed as a railroad block operator for 40 plus years with Penn Central and Con-Rail Railroad and retired in 1993. A United States Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was also a life member of the West York VFW Post 8951, a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and Penn Central Retired Employees Association. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, visiting Lake Redman and breakfast at Burger King of S. Queen Street with his friends. Mr. Sacripont is survived by one son, Joseph R. Sacripont Jr., and his wife Nancy of York, two grandchildren, Joseph R. Sacripont III and Paige E. Sacripont both of York, one sister, Mary J. Sacripont of York and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Philbert Tuccy, and two sisters, Judy Siple and Mattia Hankey.
