Joseph M. Eggler, Sr.

RENOVO - Joseph M. Eggler Sr., age 68, of North Bend, died at the Gatehouse in Williamsport on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010. He was born in Renovo on Oct. 25, 1941, a son of the late Edward W. and Stella May McKimm Eggler. Joe was a graduate of Renovo High School, worked as a repairman for ConRail for many years, and was a member of the North Bend United Methodist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, was a member of the BMWE Union #3084, Elks Lodge, American Legion, VFW, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Sons of Italy, 40 & 8 Club, and the Sinnemahoning Sportsman's Club. Joe volunteered at the Castanea Fire Co., enjoyed fishing, and was an accomplished woodworker. He served as a veteran's service officer and was a dedicated member of the Marine Corps League Detachment. Surviving is his wife: Linda (Delaney) Eggler, whom he married in Tamarack on June 29, 1974. Also surviving is a son: Joseph M. (Juli) Eggler Jr. of Scottsdale, Arizona, daughters: Jolene M. (Dean) Johnson of Quakertown and Serena Marie Eggler at home, grandchildren: Holli, Joshua, and Zackary, great grandson: Conner James, brother: Eddie A. (Sarah) Eggler of Athens, Alabama and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother: Fred and a sister. Memorial services will be held at the North Bend United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Pickering officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Bucktail Medical Center, Marine Corps League, Special Olympics, or North Bend United Methodist Church. Maxwell Funeral Home of Renovo is in charge of the arrangements.
